Evidence has come to light linking former DHS watchdog Charles Edwards to a White House agenda. Sec of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson has put Edwards on leave, after a Senate Oversight Subcommittee revealed that,
“The employee was too cozy with senior agency officials and delayed or classified some critical reports to accommodate President Barack Obama's political appointees.”
Edwards was the former Deputy Inspector General of The Dept of Homeland Security. This graph from DHS shows the duties of a Deputy Inspector General:
As you can see Edwards was required to handle a lot of responsibility. The Senate report also concluded that,
“Edwards was not only politically influenced, but wasn't qualified for his job. He also lacked the independence required of an inspector general.”
Edwards who has been under investigation since 2013, has formerly denied any wrongdoing. We only hope his leave is indefinite, because a slanted ideological agenda has no place in an organization focused on ensuring national security.
