Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is running out of electronic devices. The 44-year incumbent used his phone as a prop last month during a debate, and last week, he brought his iPad along.
When Rangel brought out the device, fellow Democratic nominee candidates Adriano Espaillat and Rev. Michael Walrond looked even more annoyed than they did in May. The moderator couldn't believe her eyes.
“Congressman, are you Googling during this debate?”
She insisted Rangel put the iPad away - no one else had a device, it wasn't fair. He just wanted to show his voting record to Espaillat, he said.
It's a fierce nomination fight that has turned ugly. In the same debate, Rangel said that all Espaillat had to offer was his ethnic identity, asking “Just what the heck has he actually done besides saying he’s a Dominican?” the NY Daily News reports.
You can't help but feel sorry for the other candidates. Is this a fight for a Congressional seat, or for the circus?
