During a dramatic mission to evacuate Iraqi Yazidi refugees from Mount Sinjar and provide them with relief supplies, Kurdish peshmerga fighters found themselves under fire from ISIS terrorists.
With a CNN camera crew on board, the fighters flew an Iraqi military helicopter towards the mountain, bringing much-needed food, water, diapers, and other necessities to the Yazidis refugees trapped there. That's when the ISIS forces opened fire.
The Kurdish fighters returned fire from the machine gun mounted in the helicopter, and as it landed, about twenty refugees rushed aboard the chopper.
As the chopper took off, fire again came from the ISIS terrorists. Once the helicopter was aloft and safe from the attack, everyone on board broke down in tears of joy and obvious relief. These 20 souls likely knew that they now had a chance at life.
