After a firestorm following unconfirmed reports that Ferguson officer Darren Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture,” doubt is being cast on the account from sources to CNN:
This fits with comments made by the police chief in the first days of the investigation, when he said Wilson's face was swollen but offered no other details. Other reports say he was beaten nearly unconscious, which are controverted by pictures and video of Wilson apparently walking around very soon after the shooting.
IJReview originally urged caution at the report, given that it was not double-sourced. In addition, a St. Louis Dispatch reporter has qualified her statement that more than a “dozen” eyewitnesses have come forward to confirm the police's version of events.
Whatever actually happened, it's best to take all reports with a skeptical attitude, whether they confirm your personal bias or not. Eventually, the truth will come out.
