As most of us are aware, there has been a lot of talk about the NFL lately, and it's not just because the season recently started. Within just two weeks there was the Ray Rice scandal and news that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was indicted for “reckless or negligent injury to a child.”
Now, new allegations have come out about Peterson hitting another one of his children from a different mother, according to Houston's I-Team KHOU News.
In June 2013, the mother of one of Peterson's children claimed that their son suffered from a head injury while Peterson was disciplining the child. The incident occurred when the child was visiting his father at his gated home in The Woodlands, Texas. Peterson reportedly reprimanded his 4-year-old son for cursing at another one of his siblings by using physical force.
As shown through text messages between Peterson and the child's mother, Peterson admits to physically disciplining his son:
Mother : “What happened to his head?”
Peterson: “Hit his head on the Carseat”
Mother: “How does this happen, he got a whoopin in the car”
Peterson: “I felt so bad. But he did it his self.”
Mother: “I'm real sensitive about my baby and him being hit.”
Peterson: “You tripping if you want him, come get him. I'm not about to be getting questioned down like you CPS.”
The child did end up getting a scar above his eye, but Peterson claimed it happened when the boy hit his own head against the car seat. According to Peterson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, the mother called Child Protective Services, although nothing ever came from it.
Hardin responded to the allegations by saying:
“The allegation of another investigation into Adrian Peterson is simply not true. This is not a new allegation, it's one that is unsubstantiated and was shopped around to authorities in two states over a year ago and nothing came of it. An adult witness adamantly insists Adrian did nothing inappropriate with his son. There is no ongoing or new investigation.”
As of now, there is no new investigation occurring from these recent allegations.
Meanwhile, Peterson is set to be back on the field for the Vikings game this weekend.
