History is littered with entertainers who've spouted off about leaving the U.S. if their least favorite presidential candidate gets elected.

But one person who recently made this vow about Donald Trump is someone who runs in the same circles as the candidate: billionaire Barry Diller.

Like Trump, Diller made his money in both the entertainment industry and New York real estate. In an interview with Bloomberg earlier this month, Diller said:

“If Donald Trump doesn't fall, I'll either move out of the country or join the resistance.”

But the CEO of IAC Interactive also said that he didn't think Trump will win the presidency. Diller then explained why he thinks Trump's had early successes in the polls:

“He’s a self-promoting huckster who found a vein. A vein of meanness and nastiness... He has no communication strategy—except to be what he has always been, a nasty mean person criticizing people and doing, you know, silly kind of showman stuff."

Diller has donated generously to Democratic candidates in the past, although he also supported John McCain during the Senator's presidential run in 2008. Forbes magazine estimates Diller's wealth to be about $2.5 billion, which is about $2 billion less than Trump's wealth figure.

Earlier today, Trump took to Twitter to respond to Diller's attack:

It's a bit ironic that Diller has issued an extreme ultimatum about Trump. That's because it was Trump who made similar statements after Barack Obama won his re-election bid.

Here' are a few tweets posted (and later deleted) by Trump immediately following the election:

In case you're wondering, people who pledge to move to Canada if they don't see a favorable election outcome rarely follow through, according to a Montreal attorney who specializes in Canadian immigration.
