Donald Trump was the winner of last night's debate, according to Republicans who watched. Now he's stacking on a big endorsement.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie endorsed Republican frontrunner Donald J. Trump for President on Friday.
Christie, who bowed out of the presidential race after failing to make any breakthroughs in Iowa and New Hampshire, joined Trump in press conference, saying:
"I am proud to be here to endorse Donald Trump for president of the United States."
Trump issued a statement thanking Christie for his support, saying "great honor to receive the endorsement," adding:
"We have had a wonderful relationship for many years. He is a solid person that I have tremendous respect for. I am really proud to receive the support of the Governor and his family
The high profile endorsement comes just hours after Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) excoriated Trump on the morning talk shows and at his rally.
Christie will travel with Trump to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to campaign with him on the trail ahead of the "Super Tuesday" primaries on March 1.
