If you were wondering how reality TV star Kendall Jenner dealt with her father's transition — she's just given a frank account.
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Jenner delved into the “gnarly experience” of watching her “manly” father become a woman.
In April of 2015, Bruce Jenner officially announced his intentions to transition into a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer. He later graced the cover of Vanity Fair magazine as Caitlyn Jenner.
When the media storm surrounding the transition began, Kendall told outlets she'd known of her father's desire to become a woman since she was a kid.
Now, the 20-year-old model is going into detail over her awareness of her parent's double life and then private desire to live as a woman.
Apparently, it all started with some makeup.
“At one point Kylie and I thought he was cheating on my mom, because he had makeup and nail polish. One time we found those squishy boob things. We found wigs.”
Kendall claims she collected clues that her father had no idea she was gathering.
In fact, there was one morning a young Kendall saw her father fully decked out as a woman without him knowing:
“She would wake up really early just so she could dress up and move around the house and get that little kick for the morning, and then go back to being Bruce—take us to school, totally normal,” Kendall says.
“So one morning I woke up at 4:00 a.m. so thirsty, came downstairs into the kitchen, and grabbed a bottle of water. And as I was coming back out, my dad was coming down the stairs in, like, a wig and makeup and shoes—the full nine. And she didn't see me. I literally froze. Please don't turn left. Because she could either turn left or turn right. Thank God she turned right and—to this day!—has no idea that happened. That was the first time I had ever seen her.”
Kendall claims she does become “a little sad and emotional” when she looks at old pictures when Caitlyn was Bruce, her father. But she argues that she has to move past that sadness.
When it comes to this election season, however, Kendall and Cait couldn't see things more differently.
Kendall has voiced her support for Hillary Clinton on social media, whereas Caitlyn Jenner, a conservative, has exclaimed she would “never, ever, ever vote for Hillary” and refers to the Democratic candidate as “a liar.”
When asked when her mother Kris knew Bruce wanted to be a woman, Kendall says, “She knew since their third date.”
