During the November 2016 election, Megyn Kelly was a prominent presence — and she wasn't even on the ballot.
In so doing, Kelly got so much blow back from Trump, his supporters, and in media coverage that, as she wrote in her recent book, she was forced to get increased security for her family. She also claims that she became a part of the story of the election without wanting to be a part of it.
But now Kelly reveals on “The Kelly File” that she got major shade from the Hillary Clinton campaign, as well. In fact, Kelly says Clinton “used” her imbroglio with Trump to win votes for herself:
“All of her time out there saying what a fantastic journalist I am, which she was using because she knew Trump had attacked me, she was using to try to curry favor with certain voting blocs.”
Kelly said that she thinks Clinton was “scared” to appear but was willing to use the Fox News host as an example of good journalism without subjecting herself to the same journalist's questioning.
At the same time, Kelly also believes that Clinton didn't want to elevate Fox News's profile by appearing:
"I asked her '50 ways from Sunday' to come on this program and she wouldn't do it. Through everyone I could possibly ask, and she wouldn't do it.
The reason, I think, is that she was scared, but also her team did not want to legitimize Fox News — and people who didn't call her out at all, are now shocked and horrified that Donald Trump might not sit with reporters or organizations."
