Robert Tester, the nephew of U.S. Senator Jon Tester, was laying in bed with his 8-year-old daughter late night on September 6th when a man entered his home with an ax.
His young daughter was forced to witness her father brutally murdered by 22-year-old John Radavich, who claims that Tester had abused his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend.
His daughter escaped and ran to their neighbor for help. Tester was found by police in a pool of his own blood with the ax nearby in what has been described as an “extremely bloody and gruesome” scene.
According to KTVQ, a medical examiner said that Tester suffered a number of “chop wounds” to his head, stomach, and chest.
It would take months before a break in the case came and a friend of Radavich's approached police with a taped confession.
According to The Daily Mail, Radavich told his friend that the “he had to take care of it by killing Tester” after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.
In the subsequent investigation, police reported that on September 5th Radavich was approached by his ex-girlfriend about the assault. The next night, September 6th, he made his way to Tester's house—and brutally murdered him.
Senator Tester's press office confirmed the relationship and asked for privacy “during this difficult time.”
According to KFBB, Radavich has been charged with 1st-degree murder and the investigation is still underway. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
