It's that time of the year again when the Hollywood elite gets together to celebrate their big box office achievements and critical successes. Award shows like the Oscars have a massive global audience, and celebs have long used them as platforms for their political beliefs.

Meryl Streep got the anti-Trump crowd fired up this year at the Golden Globes by making an impassioned speech about what she sees as the current administration's shortcomings.

So with the Academy Awards coming up on Sunday, the American people and President Trump will likely get more of the same.

But if you think First Lady Melania Trump is going to sit around and watch the award show, you're wrong. She's got other plans — and big ones at that.

Melania will be hosting her first ever White House event: The Governors Ball, a gala for the nation's governors.

According to White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, the president and first lady will be too busy to pay attention and respond to the grumbling of Hollywood's biggest names:

“The president will be hosting the Governors Ball that night. The first lady has put a lot of time into this event, welcoming our nation’s governors to the capital. I have a feeling that’s where the president and first lady are going to be focused on Sunday night.”

The focus will ultimately be on the Governors Ball which is held during National Governors Association’s winter meeting, where state governors from across the country will be wined and dined at the White House.

It isn't to be confused with the well-known Oscars after party, also called the Governors Ball...

With that, the Hollywood celebs will likely not get the reaction they would think out of the White House, should they decide to make a political speech.

Although, with President Trump and his Twitter habits — anything is possible.
