During an appearance on HBO's “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA) got hit hard with several questions.

Some were about alleged non-appearances at town halls:

Maher also made a point of nailing down Issa to a commitment to investigate Russian ties to the election of President Trump.

Maher's questioning is the result of claims that Russian hackers interfered with the 2016 presidential election, thus helping Donald Trump win the presidency. Additionally, there have been claims that Trump and some in his administration had inappropriate contact with Russia prior to the election.

Issa told Maher that an investigation could commence and with U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused from it:

"We're gonna ask the Intelligence Committees of the House and Senate to investigate within the special areas they oversee. [...] You cannot have somebody, a friend of mine, Jeff Sessions, that was on the campaign and who was an appointee. You're going to need to use the Special Prosecutor's statute in office to take, not just to recuse, you can't just give it to your deputy, that's another political appointee. You have to do that.

We're going to have to do it, here's the reason we're going to have to do it, Bill. There may or may not be fault. But the American people, who are beginning to understand that Putin murders his enemies, sometimes right in front of the Kremlin and then suddenly the cameras don't work there, he's murdered people, and taken down, using cyber warfare, in Georgia and in the Ukraine. This is a bad guy who murders people, who runs a gas station with an economy the size of Italy, but is screwing up things all over the world, that we've been doing, quote, working with.

Now, we have to work with them. We don't have to trust them. And we need to investigate their activities, and we need to do it because they are bad people."

Issa is not alone in his willingness to investigate the matters. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has stated that a Senate Select Committee should be formed if the allegations regarding pre-election contact or Russian election interference are verified.

@BernaysWe need to be an ally with Russia.  There's no need for this BS.  Russia is allies with Iran because they want Iran's natural resources... that's it.  If Iran went against Russia, don't think Russia would hesitate to take 'care' of them in any number of ways. This, is BS.  Why did BO not investigate felons voting, dead people voting, illegals voting and the like?  Those actually happened in the real world, did they not?  To what scale?  Who knows.  The moment ANY number of illegal votes cast were discovered should have set off 'alarm' bells with everyone in the US that belives in 1 legal vote, per 1 legal living citizen.  But, it wasn't.
@RlAfter Clinton's criminal enterprise was given a pass on their absurd behavior all I hear from the liberal media is BLA BLA BLA WA WA WA! Why not a real investigation into what the Clintons did or worse yet what Obama got away with. The rules are only enforced when it's convenient.
IntegrityImportantWell, how about that? If Issa (and Graham) have their way, the Dems win again. There is no evidence that even if the Russians hacked into those emails (and Assaud says they didn't), that it changed the election results. Yet, the Dems have whined about it since pathetic Hillary lost. They blamed a number of other incidents but apparently somehow they've been able to get the "Russians hacked" to stick. Pathetic. If such evidence exists, simply release that information and get it over with. Meanwhile, who does Issa think he's scoring points with? Graham couldn't even carry how own state in the primary so there's that regarding him. As I said pathetic!
