During President Donald Trump's first joint address to Congress Tuesday, the entire House chamber erupted in applause for several minutes to honor the widow of William “Ryan” Owens, a SEAL Team 6 member killed in Yemen during a raid in late January
Carryn Owens, standing next to first daughter Ivanka Trump, was brought to tears.
Trump told the crowd:
“Ryan's legacy is etched into eternity. Thank you.”
Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens, 36, was killed in the first counterterrorism operation approved by Trump since he took office. When Owens's remains were brought back to Dover Air Force Base, Trump stood alongside the family.
While older reports on intelligence yields from the raid had been mixed, according to a new report ABC News, the intelligence gathered during the operation against al-Qaeda in Yemen included “data on the explosives they're manufacturing and the types of threats they're developing.”
