Last Thursday afternoon, police in New York City were sent into a frenzy after a Secret Service agent's laptop containing national security information was stolen.
According to reports, the laptop was stolen from the agent's car, which was parked in the driveway of her home:
The laptop had information regarding floor plans of Trump Tower and its emergency evacuation route, as well as top secret information about the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
A police source commented on the severity of the issue, stating:
"The Secret Service is very heavily involved and, citing national security, there's very little we have on our side. It's a very big deal.
There's data on there that's highly sensitive. They're scrambling like mad."
Now, police say they have surveillance footage taken from the home of the agent.
While the footage is grainy, police believe the thief is a male, stating he pulled up in an Uber around 3 a.m. Thursday morning and headed straight for the car where the laptop was.
The man is then shown walking down the driveway with a bag containing the laptop in hand.
Inside the bag was the key card that granted access to the computer, according to CNN:
According to TMZ, the thief likely knew what he was after.
Information regarding what else may be on the laptop has not been disclosed and the search for the thief and the laptop continues.
