On Wednesday afternoon, the Super Bowl winning New England Patriots visited Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate their victory:
While a majority of the Patriots were on hand, the teams MVP, Tom Brady, was not in attendance:
According to reports from Sporting News, Brady said he was unable to attend the event because he was spending time with his mother who has been suffering from some health issues.
Brady's mother was unable to attend any of her son's games over the past 18 months. However, she did manage to make it to Super Bowl 51 in Houston.
While the New England-based NFL team took photos with the president, as well as giving Trump his own Patriots jersey, Brady's wife, Gisele Bündchen, had just posted a tweet that caught the attention of many:
Shortly after tweeting about the protest, which will take place on Trump's 100th day in office, she deleted the post.
Once people got wind of the tweet, some suggested that perhaps it wasn't because of Brady's ill mother that he skipped out on the White House meet and greet:
Brady has actually shown his support for Trump in the past:
There were members of the Patriots who chose not to visit the White House out of protest towards the POTUS.
Patriot athletes Devin McCourty, LeGarrette Blount, Alan Branch, Dont'a Hightower, Chris Long, and Martellus Bennett all skipped the White House event.
Neither Brady nor his wife have yet to comment on the tweet.
