Genavieve Linkowski is a native of Flint, Michigan, and the oldest of nine siblings.
While walking around a thrift store with her mom, she came upon an old piano. So as her mom shopped, she played and sang “Better Man” by Little Big Town.
Her talent caught the attention of a handful of shoppers. One customer captured her performance on video:
The woman who posted the video, Connie White Hanson, wrote on Facebook:
I was shopping at a Thrift store in Flint, when I heard this incredible voice coming from the back of the store. There was a girl by the name of Genavieve singing and playing a donated piano while waiting for her mom to finish shopping.
The video has been viewed almost a million times.
Genavieve, who has a Facebook page dedicated to her music, credits her ability to sing to God.
She wrote on her page:
I just want to remind you all, God gave me my voice. I didn't do anything to get it, so I want Him to get all the glory! Thank you all so much for watching, and thank you so so so much for all your support!
The young star then uploaded a full cover of “Better Man” to her Facebook page:
Genavieve mentioned that she plans on auditioning for NBC's “The Voice” in the near future.
