Special Counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly looking into whether or not President Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice after he fired former FBI Director James Comey in the midst of the ongoing Russia investigation.
News of the investigation came Wednesday from The Washington Post, but the obstruction of justice investigation started just days after Comey's firing in May. Anonymous officials told the Post of Mueller's investigation and said Trump associates were also being investigated for potentially committing financial crimes.
Several high-ranking intelligence officials -— including National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats — consented to interviews as part of the Russia investigation.
The Post's report came just a day after Trump's friend indicated on national television that the president was considering firing Mueller.
