Republican Karen Handel has defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff in the special election in Georgia's 6th District. The New York Times declared Handel the winner with 52.5 percent of the vote with 81 percent of precincts reporting.

The race in Georgia was the most expensive House race of all time with more than $50 million spent. The race was to the elect the replacement for President Donald Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price.

President Trump had personally gotten involved in the race, having campaigned alongside Handel and tweeting about the race seven times.

Handel's win is a huge blow to Democrats. While Price won the district in November with over 61 percent of the vote, Trump only defeated Clinton in the district by just over one point.

Democrats viewed the seat as their best chance to flip a House seat during the 2017 special election cycle.

IntegrityImportant(38 likes)I've commented elsewhere on this win and congratulations to both GA and SC. What also needs to be pointed out is how off the polls were. Everyone keeps touting the polls, oboy, Ossoff is ahead, on and on. Well guess what? They are just off these days. Why is that? The same questions should be asked about President Trump's popularity polls. Juan Williams every, and I mean every night, finds a moment somewhere in The Five to bring up "Trump's falling popularity polling numbers." Two quick points: for goodness sakes get Juan OFF that show. There are better informed and less outlandish vocal lefties out there. Richard worked out great right after Bob was fired. The other quick point is take today's polls with a grain of salt. They have been wrong a lot lately. They do not want us to like POTUS so they poll a measly 7% Repubs to come up with that low 39% number. MSM you're making your bed and you'll eventually lie in it (another country truism!).
Jim(31 likes)Reasons for Handel winning:1.  People saw all that money coming to Ossoff's campaign from all over the country and George Soros's money trying to buy the election.2.  Ossoff couldn't vote in the election, because he doesn't live in the district.3.  Ossoff was living with his girlfriend outside of the District.4.  Ossoff was handpicked by Nancy Pelosi.  When Nancy Pelosi likes you, there must be something wrong with you.5.  Karen Handel is a normal person.
Jason Murphy(23 likes)LMAO.. Soros spent 50 billion and this was Pelosi hand picked player... The Rep Karen spent about 4 million. When is the pathetic left going to get it.. You arent winning. Look in the mirror and change your ideologies and you might sniff a victory.. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expected a different result. Pathetic lifeforms they are.
