Fox News host Sean Hannity said, during his opening monologue on Friday's “Hannity,” the media and Democrats formed an “unholy alliance” and colluded to overturn the American people's decision to elect Donald Trump to the presidency in 2016.
It was hypocritical, Hannity suggested, for Democrats to decry Trump's potential collusion with Russia. The media, whom Hannity said had an ideological agenda that excluded “looking for the truth,” colluded with Democrats during the 2016 election and afterwards in order to delegitimize Trump's victory over former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“They don't care to search for answers. They're not looking for the truth,” Hannity said, explaining why reporters weren't reporting on major scandals that Americans cared about. “They have political, ideological interests. And of course, that's advancing that radical, alt-left wing agenda and of course, hurting President Trump.”
Hannity also cited a “highly-orchestrated plot” between Democrats and the media that unraveled before Trump took office. Clinton, according to Hannity, “was given a free pass by the media despite a mountain of evidence of felonies, crimes, wrongdoing, inexcusable behavior.”
As for the controversy over Donald Trump, Jr.'s meeting with a Russian attorney, Hannity portrayed the story as an onion which, as its layers continued to peel back, revealed that Democrats were at fault. He was referencing news that the Obama administration permitted Russian attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, to enter the United States.
