In the NBC News correspondent's new book detailing her time covering the 2016 presidential election, Katy Tur describes an incident in which President Donald Trump gave her an unwelcome kiss on the cheek.
“Before I know what’s happening, his hands are on my shoulders and his lips are on my cheek,” Tur wrote in her new book ”Unbelievable,“ which was released Tuesday. ”My eyes widen. My body freezes. My heart stops," according to Business Insider.
According to Tur, the kiss took place before then candidate Trump made an appearance on MSNBC's “Morning Joe.” Following the unwanted welcome gesture, Tur writes that she first thought to herself, “I hope the cameras didn’t see that. My bosses are never going to take me seriously.”
The president has previously gone after Tur over her converge of him, calling her a “third-rate reporter,” Business Insider reported.
Following one rally, Secret Service needed to walk Tur to her ride home after Trump specifically called her out by name during a campaign event.
“It wasn’t until hours later, when Secret Service took the extraordinary step of walking me to my car, that the incident sank in," Tur wrote in an essay describing the event for lifestyle magazine Marie Claire.
