The Trump administrations antipathy for CNN Senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta was on display on Friday via a tweet by White House Director of Social Media Dan Scavino. It started on Thursday, when, while in Florida to cover the president's post-Hurricane Irma visit, Acosta tweeted this photo of a pile of destroyed mobile home parts:
They had to make a pile of the destroyed mobile homes in this community Trump visited in SW FL. pic.twitter.com/rKPBiERIUc
— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) September 14, 2017
Scavino didn't reply until Friday morning, at which point he lashed out at Acosta over a particular word choice:
WH 'reporter' who loves to seek attention & make the news all about himself, rather than the actual news itself. 'Had to!?' SAD TWEET JIM!! https://t.co/oMGQ0U3gKh
— Dan Scavino Jr. (@DanScavino) September 15, 2017
Acosta quoted Scavino's tweet five minutes later, saying that he was just referring to the cleanup that was necessary:
To begin the process of cleaning up the neighborhood Dan. Have a second cup of coffee. https://t.co/MIpRT4BfT1

Scavino appears to have thought that Acosta was accusing the White House of having the mobile home parts piled up as part of a staged photo opportunity for the president. As of this writing, Scavino has not said anything on Twitter since the tweet about Acosta on Friday morning.
Acosta, by virtue of President Trump's issues with CNN, has become something of a White House enemy. That he was the reporter who spoke up without being called on at a January press conference where then-President Elect Trump was repeatedly insulting his network likely helped make the issue more personal.
