On Sunday, four women visiting Marseille, France, as tourists were attacked by another woman throwing acid, The Associated Press reports, citing a spokeswoman for the local prosecutor's office.

All four of the women have been hospitalized, two for facial injuries and two for shock. One of the women hit in the face is being treated for a potential eye injury.

While the AP says that the suspect, who was arrested, is a 41-year-old woman, France's La Provence newspaper reports that the suspect was a man of the same age. La Provence adds that the suspect, who allegedly used a hydrochloric acid spray, did not make any comments indicating that this was a terrorist attack.

Marseille fell victim to a car attack at two bus stops in August, which resulted in one fatality, but local police say it was not a terrorist incident.

This is a breaking story that may be updated as new information becomes available.
