While visiting Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday, President Donald Trump grabbed toilet paper and other supplies and passed them into a crowd of people gathered inside a church.
At first, Trump held up supplies and asked who in the crowd who needed them. But eventually, the president started tossing what looked like toilet paper into the crowd.
During his visit, Trump also took multiple photos with attendees.
When CNN's Brooke Baldwin asked her colleague Chris Cuomo about the optics and tone of Trump's activity, Cuomo said it was “good that the president of the United States is on the ground in Puerto Rico.”
“Now that he is on the ground there, hopefully, he will recognize the need,” Cuomo said.
While speaking to the press in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, Trump touted the administration's relief efforts for saving “a lot of lives” but noted that the money spent on Puerto Rico distorted the federal budget.
“Now, I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you have thrown our budget a little out of whack because we spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico,” he said.
