Obama Foundation Community Event

Former President Barack Obama took to Twitter on Sunday evening to share his response in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in Texas state history.

In his tweets, Obama indirectly called for attention to be brought to the subject of gun control. President Donald Trump, for his part, sidestepped the issue and pointed to the “health care problem” in the United States.

Democratic lawmakers took to Twitter shortly after the massacre to express their sympathies and demand that action be taken on the issue of gun control reform.

Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) said that “we can't have another week of inaction on gun violence prevention,” while Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) plainly stated that “it's time for Congress to act.”
