Following a bombshell report Monday detailing several sexual harassment allegations against Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), another ex-staff member for the Michigan Democrat has alleged similar “daily” incidents.
According to court documents obtained by BuzzFeed News, a former scheduler, whose name is being withheld, working in Conyers's office tried to file a sealed lawsuit against Conyers in February, alleging she “repeatedly and daily” endured unwanted touching at the hands of the Democrat.
The woman alleges that shortly after starting to work for Conyers between 2015 to 2016 he made multiple sexual advances in the form of inappropriate comments and touching.
The report stated that “from May to July of 2016 she was exposed to daily harassment by Conyers that included 'rubbing on her shoulders, kissing her forehead, covering and attempting to hold her hand' as well as on some occasions urging her to come to his home.”
"These behaviors and actions were so common and pervasive that they created a hostile work environment,” the woman alleged.
Earlier on Tuesday, a day after BuzzFeed News initially broke the story containing multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Conyers, the House Ethics Committee announced that an investigation into the allegations had been launched.
While Conyers has said he “vehemently” denies the sexual misconduct allegations, he did acknowledge he reached a settlement with a former staffer.
