UPDATE [12/4/17, 12:45 a.m. ET]:

The White House released the following statement regarding President Trump's conversation with Roy Moore on Monday:

“The President had a positive call with Judge Roy Moore during which they discussed the state of the Alabama Senate race and the President endorsed Judge Moore's campaign.”

Just weeks after President Donald Trump appeared hesitant to throw his support behind Roy Moore, who stands accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct, including inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl, the president called the embattled Senate candidate on Monday to offer his “full support.”

Kayla Moore, the wife of the Alabama Republican Senate nominee, wrote on Facebook on Monday that Trump called her husband and voiced his full endorsement.

“Judge Moore just got off the phone with President Trump-we have his full support! Thank you Mr. President! Let's MAGA!” Moore wrote.

OANN White House correspondent Trey Yingst confirmed the call on Twitter:

The news appears to mark the first time Trump has made contact with the Moore campaign since the allegations against the candidate rocked the election. Last week, the White House said the president has no plans to travel to Alabama and campaign for Moore ahead of the December 12 special election.

However, Trump plans to hold a rally in Pensacola, Florida, just 25 miles from the Alabama border, ahead of the election. And Alabamians have reported receiving robo-calls inviting them to attend the Florida event.

“Hi, this is Lara Trump, calling on behalf of my father-in-law, President Donald Trump,” the recording reportedly says. “I'm incredibly excited to invite you to an event in your area. A special rally event featuring President Donald Trump will take place on Friday, December 8, at the Pensacola Bay Center.”

Earlier on Monday, Trump voiced his unequivocal support for Moore on Twitter, saying: “Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama.”

“We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more,” Trump wrote.
