Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter on Thursday to gloat over Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) announcing his resignation from Congress amid mounting allegations of sexual misconduct.

The president's oldest child referenced one of the comedian-turned-lawmaker's famous characters from his days on “Saturday Night Live” in a tweet following Franken's speech on the Senate floor.

Franken's old “SNL” character named Stuart Smalley hosted a segment titled “Daily Affirmations With Stuart Smalley.”

Many of the tweets in reply to Trump Jr. mocking Franken are pointing out that his father, President Donald Trump, has also been accused by numerous women of sexual misconduct and assault.

In Franken's resignation speech, he also made a similar observation, pointing out what he called the “irony” that he's “leaving while a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office.”
