Anti-Trump Republicans Finally Have a Presidential Candidate — And Joe Scarborough Knows the Name

An independent conservative is reportedly filing the paperwork Monday to run for President in an effort to counter Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Monday morning, Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” tweeted that an independent presidential candidate would reveal himself.

The news was followed by a report from BuzzFeed’s McKay Coppins, who outlined the bid by Evan McMullin, the chief policy director for the House Republican Conference.

McMullin, who has spent the bulk of his professional life working for the CIA and for Goldman Sachs, has made it no secret that he opposes Trump, regularly tweeting about the billionaire candidate.

BuzzFeed also reported that Florida GOP strategist Rick Wilson was highly involved in the campaign structure.

McMullin, who has already missed many state filing deadlines and has virtually no name recognition, would likely face an uphill battle in a race against Trump, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and other third party candidates.

But anti-Trump Republicans who have been begging for a candidate will finally have their man, and his name is Evan McMullin.
