Trump Targets Lisa Page, Germany in Tweetstorm During NATO Summit

President Donald Trump didn’t hold back from slamming people back home and abroad while on a trip to Europe, targeting FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page ahead of testimony on the Russia investigation and also criticizing Germany for failing to pay its fair share toward mutual defense in Europe.

While in Brussels for the NATO summit, Trump took to Twitter on Thursday in the early morning to bash former FBI lawyer Page for refusing to testify before Congress over anti-Trump texts she exchanged with Strzok, an FBI agent working on the Russia investigation in 2016.

Trump lashed out against Attorney General Jeff Sessions, suggesting that Sessions should force Page to testify:

Page’s lawyer has said that Republican lawmakers on the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees didn’t give her enough time to prepare for her testimony, according to The Hill.

The president’s comments come as Strzok gears up to testify on his role in the Russia and Clinton investigations and his anti-Trump texts, including one in which he said that “we’ll stop” Trump from winning the election.

Trump earlier also bashed Strzok, calling out his “hate filled and totally biased Emails” and slamming the Russia inquiry as “perhaps the most tainted and corrupt case EVER!”

In a pair of other tweets on Thursday morning, Trump continued his diatribe against Germany for failing to contribute enough for European security and for “paying Russia” for oil and gas:

Trump went on to reiterate that NATO members should raise their defense spending commitments to 4 percent of their gross domestic product, a number more in line with what he says the U.S. is currently devoting to the alliance.

The latest tweets come out of a testy summit in which Trump consistently challenged U.S. allies before heading to Helsinki for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.
