It wasn’t an ultimatum, Bridges tells the Oprah Winfrey Network, Susan was simply ready to take her life to the next level.Image Credit: Screenshot/OWN
She wanted to move back to Montana from Malibu to get married and have kids.
“She said, ‘I know of your ambivalence, but I’m going back up to Montana because I feel my clock going off. I know you love me, I know it’s not that, but that’s what I’m going to do. I’m just letting you know.’”

It was then the actor realized that it was time for him to go from ambivalent to unquestionable if he wanted to keep the love of his life.
“I said, ‘Oh God, I can’t let this woman go,'” Bridges tells OWN. “I had this vision of an old guy thinking there was this girl from Montana, man, why didn’t I marry her.”

Five days later, on June 5, 1977, Jeff Bridges and Susan Geston, got married surrounded by their family and friends.
“I finally realized how wonderful marriage is. You open a doorway into the marriage and it’s a hall filled with all these doors on either side. They are filled with kids and all kinds of emotions you never would experience if you weren’t married, like joy and fear. [It’s] just the context of it, saying we are going to do this together.”

Because they support each other, because to them “the little things” matter, and because — more than anything else — they love each other.
