After Left Went After O’Reilly and Hannity, Group Says Watch Out to Maddow and Anderson Cooper

Bill O’Reilly was taken off the air after leftist protesters parked themselves outside Fox News headquarters and their allies demanded the popular broadcaster’s advertisers abandon his show.

The host, whose legal settlements for sexual harassment complaints became public, was fired. Fox News’s ratings have sunk as a result.

The same groups are said to have radio and Fox TV host Sean Hannity in their crosshairs:

And even good-natured former game show host, television personality, and advertising spokesman Chuck Woolery says his sponsors are being overwhelmed by people demanding they fire him:

Efforts by Independent Journal Review to get a comment from Woolery or his media spokesman were unsuccessful.

Indeed, Democrat David Brock’s groups, including Media Matters, outlined their plans to go after conservative media in a secret document obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The Media Research Center, one of the targets of that plan, has announced it’s putting “the left on notice that we are on to them” and will fight fire with fire:

The radical left’s effort to silence conservative media by targeting their advertisers with coordinated smear campaigns has gone unanswered, but today is the day the conservative movement fights back, but with a big difference: We’ll tell the truth. And we’ll take no prisoners.

MRC says it will go after “smears” by these TV news shows and open them up to the same scrutiny given to Fox News.

Every time one of their on-air personalities go beyond political commentary and engage in smear and hate, we are going to unleash an army of activists to contact these advertisers by phone and through social media to ask them why they are advertising on programs that are so biased, repulsive and morally bankrupt.

The media watchdog group says it will make these groups live by their own rules:

We are putting ten shows, and their major corporate sponsors on notice that we are watching their every move. Additionally, we will be publicly listing the advertisers of these programs and asking them to defend their decision to continue airing ads on these shows.

The media group listed most of MSNBC’s lineup as targets of its scrutiny, including “The Rachel Maddow Show,” “All In with Chris Hayes,” and “Hardball With Chris Matthews,” but left “Morning Joe” off its list.

The CNN shows listed include “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon,” “Anderson Cooper 360°,” “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” and even the media show “Reliable Sources,” which the media watchdog perceives as decidedly unreliable.
