Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke out again about climate change, claiming that the world will end in 12 years.
During an event for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Democratic socialist representative questioned those that criticized her ideas on climate change.
“Millennials, and Gen Z, and all these folks that come after us, are looking up and we’re like, ‘The world will end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?'” said Ocasio-Cortez.

She also claimed that the fight for climate change was “our World War II,” which is not the first time that the lawmaker has compared the two issues. As IJR has previously reported, she has previously called Americans to mobilize in a similar way as during wartime.
“And what we did is that we chose to mobilize our entire economy and industrialize our entire economy,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “We put hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people to work defending our shores and defending this country. We have to do the same thing if we’re going to get us to 100 percent renewable energy.”
Her “Green New Deal” has been called out as “unrealistic” with no real sustainable plan, yet Ocasio-Cortez is not listening to the criticism.
“It’s going to require a lot of rapid change that we don’t even conceive as possible right now,” said Ocasio-Cortez in an interview with Anderson Cooper. “What is the problem with trying to push our technological capacities to the furthest extent possible?”
