Target Corporation took the unusual step Wednesday of formally announcing their policies on “inclusiveness” which included their stance on bathroom and dressing room access:

Most relevant for the conversations currently underway, we welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.

This is an interesting and, of course, controversial development, but apparently not a new one (bolded emphasis added):

Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, said it is not a new policy, but the retailer wanted to clarify its position given questions it has received from both customers and employees amid the national debate. Executives sent an e-mail to store leaders earlier this week to convey the message.

It's not clear when this became official policy, but one can assume it started in 2014, when the popular retailer declared their support for same-sex marriage, which was four years after their then-CEO became a target of the activist left mob after it was discovered the company contributed $150,000 to a politician who opposed gay marriage. Target has been atoning for that, ahem, transgression ever since, and are back in the good graces of liberal LGBT leaders. Their Wednesday announcement was no exception.

At least this move was a decision made by a private business - not government, which, ironically, is right in line with the so-called “bathroom bill” that recently passed in North Carolina.

But the ugly thing about this “not new” policy is that it may have already led to the victimization of women and children. A simple Google search provides dozens of cases of Peeping Toms arrested at Target stores across the country for taking pictures and/or videos of women and children in various states of undress in Target's fitting rooms and bathrooms. Here are some examples:

March 2014 - Rhode Island: Police find more [Target] “upskirting” videos from Rhode Island man

September 2014 - Ohio: Cleves man charged with peeping at boy in Western Hills Target bathroom [repeat offender]

November 2014 - South Carolina: Anderson PD: 'Peeping Tom' took pics of people in Target bathroom

November 2014 - California: Target Employee Arrested, Allegedly Photographed Woman In Dressing Room ['Torres was convicted of a similar crime last year']

February 2015 - Hawaii: Kona ‘Peeping Tom’ sentenced [peeped on a woman in a Target restroom]

March 2015 - Pennsylvania: Man [Admitted] Secretly Recording Women in Target Dressing Rooms

April 2015 - Missouri: Police: Peeping tom caught filming women in Brentwood Target dressing rooms

April 2015 - Oklahoma: Woman Chases Down Peeping Tom from Target Dressing Room

August 2015 - Maryland: Kingsville man held in suspected Bel Air peeping Tom incident [at Target]

April 2016 - Ohio: Miami Township Target peeping Tom pleads guilty

The question that needs to be asked is: How did these men gain access to the dressing rooms and restrooms to begin with? The linked stories don't mention how they were dressed or whether they asked permission to enter or if there was even an attendant around to ask, but the thing to remember here is that there is no uniform look for transgender “women.”

So in other words, a man who identifies as a woman doesn't even have to dress like one to claim transgender status, meaning policies like Target's are ripe for sexual predators falsely claiming transgender status to gain access to women and children, because a man who looks like a man can't even be questioned by a Target employee as to his identity status because it's considered “harmful” to the man.

And this cuts right to the core of why women and men alike across the country are protesting laws permitting men identifying as women (and vice versa) to enter unquestioned into gender-specific facilities where there is a reasonable expectation of safety and privacy. It's not people who are legitimately transgender they fear. It's sexual predators using the cover of such laws to commit crimes against women and children while at their most vulnerable.

It's hard to believe that in 2016, this country is actually having a debate as to whether or not women and children should have to share bathrooms, showers, lockers, and dressing rooms with the opposite sex. Worse still is that when people dare to question the rationality of such a policy, they're labeled as bigots, homophobes, intolerant, “hate-filled” - when most who oppose these policies simply want to protect their loved ones from the very real possibility they could be emotionally scarred, sexually victimized, or re-victimized by way of triggering.

Unfortunately, the activist left uses bullying tactics to back Target into a corner on LGBT issues to the point the company continues to institute bizarre policies like bringing an end to gender labeling in their toy section and their dangerous “inclusivity” policy when it comes to restrooms and the like. Perhaps after being reminded of how many instances they've had in the recent past of women and children being victimized in their stores, they'll rethink the issue and come up with a compromise solution.

That is, if the LGBT leaders pulling their strings wanted one. Which they don't. Shame.
