Fox News host Tucker Carlson took on Planned Parenthood Executive VP Dawn Laguens, resulting in what Carlson would dismissively characterize at the end of the interview as a “uniquely shallow conversation.”
It was a tragic commentary on our nation’s shallow conversation about what many believe to be silent murder in our midst.
As the executive of the nation’s largest abortion provider, Languens helps to preside over 300,000 abortions a year in the United States. Despite the countless termination of unwanted pregnancies by her agency, she appeared emotionally unable to answer basic questions about human life.
After letting Laguens repeat her shopworn talking points, Carlson decided to press on a moral question she was obviously unequipped to answer:
“So, Planned Parenthood does provide an awful lot of abortions every year, over 300,000 … in that range. The majority of them are after five and a half weeks. That’s the point at which the fetal heartbeat can be detected. I’m just wondering, as someone who works there, what do you think of that? What is being aborted? If you can hear the heartbeat, what is that thing that’s being aborted? How do you feel about that?”
Laguens’ answer, or rather, unwillingness to give an answer, speaks volumes about the lack of moral compass in an organization that touts itself as a women’s health care provider that specializes in reproductive health care.
It speaks to our thoughtless and reckless culture that such an agency can get away with claiming as much, receive taxpayer funds, but actually practice the opposite of “health care” as far as a human fetus is concerned and carry out un-reproductive health care on women.
President Trump exposed Planned Parenthood’s real agenda by allowing it to keep its federal funding, if only it would give up its abortion operations. As with this interview, actions speak louder than words.
