An upcoming (unauthorized) biography of Barack Obama, written by Pulitzer-prize winning biographer David Garrow, will purportedly offer an unprecedented look at the personal life of the former president, The Daily Mail reported.
The biography, “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama,” outlines Obama’s past love life, alleged drug use, and more.
Among some of the biggest alleged revelations are that Obama proposed twice to a white ex-girlfriend, considered a gay relationship during his college years, and continued seeing an ex while dating the woman who would become his wife, Michelle Obama.
One of Obama’s exes, Genevieve Cook, described their relationship as highly sexual, according to a private memoir obtained by Garrow. She also revealed that Obama still did cocaine while they were an item, according to the biography. However, she suggested the former president wasn’t a heavy drug user.
“For every five lines that somebody did, he would have done half,” Cook said, according to Garrow.

Another ex-girlfriend of Obama’s, Sheila Miyoshi Jager, was hardly mentioned in “Dreams of My Father,” but Garrow’s account describes her as very influential in his early years.
“Rising Star” claims Obama even continued dating her for roughly a year after he met his future wife, Michelle.
“I always felt bad about it,” Jager reportedly said.
Jager described their previous relationship as loving and “an island unto ourselves,” according to the book. Obama proposed to her twice, and she turned him down twice, the biography claims.Facebook Screenshot/Daily Mail
Finally, Obama supposedly briefly considered pursuing a gay lifestyle, but he never acted on it, according to the new biography.
“Obama wrote somewhat elusively to his first intimate girlfriend that he had thought about and considered gayness but ultimately decided that a same-sex relationship would be less challenging and demanding than developing one with the opposite sex,” the author writes.
The Obamas have not responded to the claims made in “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama.” The book is scheduled to be released on May 9.
