In an interview on Fox News, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke revealed that he had a private meeting with Donald Trump to discuss the issue of public safety.
Sheriff Clarke said:
“I just wanted to give him an idea of what it’s like on ground level. That’s where I’m at. I’m in the trenches.
I’m at street level. I’m meeting and dealing with people who are looking for safer neighborhoods and safer schools on a daily basis. I know what their needs are, what their wants are.”
When Trump asked about police shootings, Clarke told The Donald that while they have a role in “igniting” riots, they aren’t the main cause. He added that the use of police force has been “hijacked” for political purposes.
Clarke also hinted at how he’s going to be playing a role in Trump’s campaign now that the nomination process is over.
