Colin Kaepernick spent more time last season kneeling on the sidelines than he did playing — and according to multiple sources, the reason he is now without a team lies somewhere in between his poor performance on the field and his persistence in mixing political statements with professional football.

One would think that, with his career on the line, Kaepernick might tone down the political rhetoric — particularly the more inflammatory statements — but one would be wrong...

As the verdict came down in the trial of the Minnesota police officer who shot and killed Philando Castile (he was acquitted), Kaepernick quickly tweeted the following:

But then he doubled down...

People quickly pointed out that comparing police officers to runaway slave catchers probably wouldn't help him land an NFL spot:
