On Saturday, the doctors treating House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) announced that despite a traumatic gunshot wound and several surgeries, his condition was being upgraded from “critical” to “serious.”
In addition, they noted that he had been conscious for a period of time on Saturday and had been able to speak with his wife.
But MSNBC's Joy Reid spent Saturday morning addressing important things like how ironic it is that Scalise was a Second Amendment advocate and a victim of gun violence, or that he co-sponsored a bill defining marriage as one man and one woman but was saved by a lesbian police officer:
