GA Democrat Calls Special Election a 'Community' Thing — Gets Much of His Support From a Different Community
The heated battle for Georgia's 6th Congressional District continues as Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel go head to head on the issues with just hours left before voters go to the polls.
Ossoff, 30, recently spoke to NBC News about how the election will affect Georgians and their communities:
"I think this race is about who can deliver for this community more than it's about national politics. There are many in the community who do have serious concerns about the direction the administration is taking us in and I'm one of them and those concerns have only grown over time.
“But fundamentally what people want from their representative is the kind of results that improve quality of life.”
But interestingly enough, some of Ossoff's biggest and most outspoken support doesn't seem to be coming from the community, but from Hollywood.
Since April, George Takei, Alyssa Milano, Chelsea Handler, and other big names have taken to Twitter to push for the Democratic candidate:
Back in April, even Samuel L. Jackson recorded a radio ad for Ossoff:
Of course, Handel has the support of you know who, the president of the United States, Donald Trump:
Voters head to the polls Tuesday, June 20, to decide the fate of the sixth district — which once belonged to Republican Rep. Tom Price, who went on to serve Trump as his Health and Human Services Secretary.
