Scrolling through my social feed, something caught my eye. A friend who regularly is on television for Donald Trump, Harlan Hill, posted this photo while doing a TV hit from Trump Tower in New York:

I recognized the painting in the background. I had seen it on the campaign trail but had no idea it was hanging in Trump Tower. I had spoken to the man who painted it in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2016 during the Iowa caucuses.

His name was Julian Raven, and the painting was emblazoned on the side of a massive semi truck he was driving from campaign stop to campaign stop. Raven told me the painting was a vision from God, who had told him Trump would be president of the United States and do a lot of good for the world.

I wrote it off, but admired the man's passion and artistic flair. Here is the painting in full:

More on Raven from a profile of him in January:

The painting, which depicts Trump's face next to a bald eagle gripping the American flag against a background of Earth, is titled “Unafraid and Unashamed.” Raven said the painting is the result of divine inspiration and two months of hard work.

“I'm compelled to do it, as my civic duty as a newborn citizen,” Raven said.

Raven, who lives in Elmira, New York, was born in London, England, and raised in Spain. Although he has lived in the United States for the last 20 years, he didn't become a U.S. citizen until Sep. 17. Raven said he traveled nearly 1,000 miles from New York to be at [the University of Northern Iowa] for Trump's rally there. [...]

Raven said his painting was inspired by God. After meditating on Trump, Raven said he connected Trump with the image of an eagle swooping down and grabbing a flagpole.

Approximately a month later, after completing other projects, Raven sat at his computer searching for images of eagles. At this point, his 13-year-old daughter walked in and suggested that Raven give the completed painting of the eagle to Trump should Trump become president.

According to the rest of the interview, Raven met Trump and gave him the painting.

The prophetic image now hangs in Trump Tower, an interesting statement from the man who would become president.
