A video has been circulating on social media showing an insane shootout between the Mexican Army and members of a drug cartel that looks like it could have been recorded somewhere in Syria or Iraq.

According to Mexican news sources such as El Horizonte and Excelsior, the shootout erupted on August 22 in the municipality of Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas — just a few miles from the U.S. border.

Soldiers were chasing down a black Chevrolet pickup truck when it got trapped, ending in the explosive and short gun battle between the two forces.

The clashes continued throughout the day, lasting around three hours. Local media reports that the Gulf Cartel, led by Luis Alberto Blanco Flores also known as “El Pelochas,” were responsible.

There is no word on how many were killed or injured at this time, but it didn't look like it ended well for the cartel.
