The firing of former FBI director James Comey has been one of the biggest distractions for the Trump administration since May and has served as ammunition for the opposition's investigation into alleged Russian ties.

In the months after his dismissal, Comey served as a rallying point for Democrats, allowing special counsel Robert Mueller to take command of the intense and often secretive investigation.

In a recent unaired segment of Steve Bannon's interview with “60 Minutes,” the former White House chief strategist admitted the firing of Comey was a massive blunder for the administration.

Charlie Rose pushed Bannon into the question by asking him if he believed it was the “biggest mistake in political history,” but he quickly fired back, per Mediaite:

“That probably would be too bombastic, even for me...but maybe modern political history.”
