Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently found himself addressing an awkward topic after his Twitter page “liked” a pornographic video.

Following the “like” heard around the country, the porn site made it known that the onetime presidential hopeful was a fan of its work:

It has since been reported by Politico that a “staffer” was responsible for liking the pornographic tweet.

News that Cruz was not involved likely came as a relief to those who support him. That said, it also came as a relief to the adult film actress in the video, New York Daily News writes.

That woman is longtime porn star Cory Chase, who was actually kept out of the loop about the “like” since her home in Florida lost power as a result of Hurricane Irma.

When Chase did find out, she spoke with people over at New York Daily News, where she explained that she is not a fan of Cruz:

“With his stance against the porn industry and adult entertainment, I'm not a fan of Ted Cruz.”

That said, the 36-year-old adult film star added:

“But I'm happy to see that he could be a fan of mine though.”

Chase later said:

“I do hope he enjoys the video if he watched it.”

But the most awkward part came when Twitter users suggested that if Cruz did “like” the video, it was partly because Chase resembled his wife, Heidi:

To which Chase responded:

“I could see the resemblance.”

For those who speculate Cruz was the culprit involved, he did attempt to ban sex toy sales while Texas solicitor general in 2007, Daily News notes.

Some things we may never know.
