This week, North Korea threatened to turn Japan and the United States to ashes.

The dictatorship is feeling a heightened sense of power since successfully testing its largest nuclear device yet.

And it just launched a ballistic missile test that made it much farther than most of its other tests. In fact, the missile reportedly traveled through Japanese airspace.

The Associated Press tweeted Thursday:

It's unclear if the missile was an ICBM, but the New York Times' Tokyo Bureau Chief Motoko Rich shared more details about the test:

The missile also flew over one of Japan's islands, according to Sky News:

According to BBC, residents were ordered to take shelter following the detected missile. President Donald Trump has yet to respond to the news.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
