Donald Trump

During a press conference in the Rose Garden with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), President Donald Trump was asked about his tweets were he states he hopes Hillary Clinton runs for office again.

Fox News Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts asked if Clinton was right to say National Football League players kneeling during the national anthem is not disrespectful, and Trump again said she should run for president.

“In an interview earlier today, Hillary Clinton said that she did not believe that players taking a knee in the NFL was about disrespecting the flag,” Roberts began to ask. “At complete odds with the way you portrays this. You said you hope she runs again in 2020.”

“I hope Hillary runs. Is she going to run? I hope. Hillary, please run again!” Trump responded.

He then clarified how he believes people taking a knee during the anthem is disrespectful.

According to Clinton, the act of kneeling is considered a “reverent position.”

“Actually, kneeling is a reverent position,” she said. “It was to demonstrate in a peaceful way against racism and injustice in our criminal system.”

“That's what black athletes' kneeling was all about. That's not against our anthem or our flag,” Clinton added.
