Now that longtime host of “Today” Matt Lauer was fired by NBC after someone came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, people who have worked with him appeared to have dropped hints of his behavior.
Former “Today” co-anchor Katie Couric appeared on Andy Cohen's “Watch What Happens Live” in 2012 and was asked what Lauer's most annoying habit was. Her answer sheds some light on a potential ugly work environment.
“He pinches me on the ass a lot,” she said.
“Wow, I wouldn't have a problem with that,” Cohen enthusiastically responded.
Her answer was met with laughter from the studio audience.
“On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,” Andrew Lack, the NBC News president, said in a memo to the staff at NBC.
“While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident,” he added.
