Matt Lauer

TV journalist Matt Lauer was fired as co-host of NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday following allegations of sexual misconduct, and now, old clips of the embattled anchor are resurfacing — and viewers are watching them from a new perspective.

One such clip is from a 2009 interview Lauer conducted with actress Sandra Bullock, who was promoting her then-new movie, “The Proposal.” During the interview, things took an awkward turn when the former NBC host jokingly admitted to having a nude photo of the Hollywood celebrity.

“The major thing that’s changed since you were here last: I have now seen you naked,” Lauer told Bullock, who immediately cringed at the suggestion and added, "I’m so sorry about that. Were you able to sleep afterwards?”

Lauer quickly notified Bullock the image has caused him no problems. In fact, it seemed as if the opposite were true. He told “The Proposal” star he was using the image as his “screensaver.”

The accused anchor, who seemed overly interested in the movie’s single, one-minute nude scene, in which Bullock covers up with her arm and a loofah, claimed she was naked for “most of” the film.

"No, I’m not," a confused and defensive Bullock retorted. “I’m not naked for most of this movie, [maybe] emotionally naked.”

At the end of the roughly four-minute interview, most of which Lauer filled with conversation about the award-winning actress’ one nude scene, the then-host jokingly asked, “Did I mention you have a nude scene in this movie?”

“Pretty much from the time you opened your mouth,” Bullock replied, joking she had no interest in coming back to the “Today” show after her interview with Lauer.

The clip with Bullock resurfaced after TMZ discovered a 2006 clip of Lauer making a gross comment during an off-script moment captured inadvertently by an in-studio camera feed. When then-co-host Meredith Vieira was leaning over to pick up scripts, Lauer told her to “keep bending over like that. It’s a nice view.”
