Fox News host Laura Ingraham shared her thoughts on Saturday with Fox colleague Jesse Watters on why she believes Democratic lawmakers defend illegal immigration.

In a word, Ingraham said, to replace white conservatives.

When Watters asked why Democrats oppose building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, she replied, in part:

"I think the real reason ultimately, Jesse, is they want to replace the current electorate in the United States with a new electorate — and that new electorate [...] And that new electorate [...]

So, I think the Democrats want the replace, you know, the old, white yahoo conservatives with a new group of people who might be more amenable to big government and don’t necessarily have a big affection for the Second Amendment or the Constitution."

Ingraham's comments were part of a discussion with Watters about the acquittal last week of illegal immigrant Jose Ines Garcia Zarate in the shooting death of Kate Steinle.

Garcia Zarate claimed the shooting was accidental. As described by KTRK, Garcia Zarate said the gun, which he said he found wrapped in a piece of cloth, fired when he picked it up.

About Steinle's death, Watters asked:

“Do you think that Democrats are willing to take a loss of Kate Steinle or someone like that by an illegal in a sanctuary city to further their political agenda?”

“Absolutely,” Ingraham said. Enthusiastically.
