On Sept. 11, the day of Never Forgetting, let us Never Forget the time Donald Trump confused the Never Forgetting date with a chain of convenience stores:
“I think what I want to do is I want to talk just for a second, I wrote this out and it's very close to my heart, because I was down there, and I watched our police and our firemen down on 7-Eleven, down at the World Trade Center, right after it came down...”
At least he goofed that up back when he was still just a candidate on the campaign trail, and not on Monday morning at the remembrance ceremony he attended at the Pentagon.
Also, he was not “down there.” Unless “down there” is how people in Buffalo refer to New York City, where Trump was approximately 70 blocks uptown from the World Trade Center towers, getting ready to go on TV to talk about how he now owned the tallest building downtown.
Watch the longer clip, in which Trump talks about “New York values” and how fast the entire state's economy would come back with his presidency (Spoiler alert: He didn't have any clue how to make it happen in April 2016 and still doesn't), below.
