After Her Own Kids Key Her Minivan, Single Mom Comes Up with a Unique Way to Change Their Behavior

Most parents go through an experience while raising their children: a phase when the kids act out in a disrespectful way. Most parents find a way to grin and bear it, waiting for the phase to end on its own. This mother from North Carolina, though, isn't most parents.
Naasira Muhammad has gone “on strike,” until her daughters learn to treat her with respect.
The Winston-Salem mother walked the sidewalk in front of her home with a sign that read: “MOM ON STRIKE” after her two teenage daughters continued to disrespect her by back talking and even keying her brand new minivan.
That's when Mom decided she had had enough:
“I'm to the point where I'm just so frustrated, so to keep my hands off my kids or to keep me from doing something crazy, I just decided to go on strike,” said Muhammad. “I walk up and down the sidewalk until my knees hurt, and then I sit down.”
Maasira picketed in front of her own home for over a week, saying she would remain on strike until her daughters learned to appreciate her.
“My children have everything that they could possibly want and need, but yet still, they are disrespectful,” Muhammad said. “They are rude. They think that I'm the meanest mom in the world. They think they can survive without me, so I said, you know what? That's fine. This mom is going on strike.”
This mom had the right idea to teach her daughters a little humility and respect. Hopefully, this experience will show them how irreplaceable their mother actually is.
